10:00–13:00 and 15:00–18:00

How the three hours go

  • Meet at the boatAkti Kountouriotou 27, on the quay in Kos Harbour, two minutes from Dolphin Square. Please come twenty minutes before we leave.
  • Out to the groundsTwenty to thirty minutes under way, past the old harbour and the castle, with the Turkish coast on the horizon.
  • FishingWe stop, hand out the rods and show you what to do. Then it goes quiet for a couple of hours, which is most of the point.
  • Back inOn the way home we clean and bag whatever you have caught, so you step off the boat with it ready.

What you will catch

It depends on the day and on where we stop. Most trips bring up comber, the fish we call hanos, plus a mix of the others.

  • Comber (hanos)
  • Painted comber (perka)
  • Pearly razorfish (papagalos)
  • Saddled seabream (melanouri)
  • White seabream (sargos)
  • Common sole (glossa)
  • European seabass
  • Pork fish

Some days the boat fills. Some days it does not. We will not promise you a bucket, but we have fished this ground since 1939 and we know where to look.

Catch and cook

We hand it over cleaned. Noah’s Ark cooks it.

Walk your fish round to Noah’s Ark, a few minutes from where we tie up, and they will cook it and serve it to you. There is no charge for the cooking. You pay only for whatever you order alongside it.

They close on Mondays. If you fish on a Monday we keep your catch chilled so you can take it in the next day, or you take it home and cook it yourself.

The people on the boat

One family, one boat

Tasos Androullis was born in 1931 and first went out to fish at eight years old. Not for visitors, for a living. He is no longer with us; the boat still carries his name.

In 2015 his son Alex opened the boat to visitors, the first fishing trips anyone offered on the island of Kos. Mariana, Alex’s wife, is usually on the afternoon trips; Timi crews the morning one. That is the whole company: no office, no fleet, no script.

More about the family

Worth knowing
  • Arrive twenty minutes before departure

  • No swimming or diving from the boat
  • No large bags and no drugs on board
  • Dogs are welcome
  • We speak English, Greek, Romanian and Hungarian

Mini-Cruise, 20 euro

One hour on the water between the two fishing trips, 14:00 to 15:00. No rods, no plan. Just the coast from the sea, which is the only angle worth seeing it from.

Private charters for families, groups and anyone who wants the timing to suit them rather than us. Tell us what you have in mind on WhatsApp and we will price it.

Kos Town

Finding the boat

We tie up on Akti Kountouriotou 27, the harbour front in Kos Town, two minutes on foot from Dolphin Square. Look for the blue Fishing Trip awning. The name on the bow is Kapetan Tasos.

If you cannot see us, call or message. We are on the quay from early morning.

Questions we get asked

Do I need to know how to fish?

No. Some of our guests fish at home, plenty have never held a rod. We bait the hooks, show you how to drop the line and stay near you until you have it. Children pick it up in about four minutes.

Can I bring someone who does not want to fish?

Yes, for 30 euro. They get the same boat, the same drink and sandwich, and three hours of not being asked to do anything. They still count towards the twelve places.

How do I pay?

On the boat, on the day. Reserving here costs nothing and takes no card details. If you book through GetYourGuide instead, you pay them online.

What if the weather turns?

We call it off and you pay nothing. Kos gets windy in the afternoon more often than in the morning; if the sea looks wrong we will tell you the evening before or first thing that morning.

Can I cancel?

Free up to 24 hours before departure. After that, tell us anyway. We would rather give the seat to someone waiting on the quay.

What about seasickness?

We fish close in and we anchor, so it is calmer than a crossing. If you know you are prone to it, take something an hour before you come and pick the morning trip, when the sea is usually flatter.

Do I get to keep the fish?

All of it. We clean and bag it on the way in. Take it to Noah’s Ark and they cook it for you, or take it back to where you are staying.

When do you run?

Every day from April to the middle of November, twice a day: 10:00 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 18:00. Outside those months the boat is out of the water.
